February 26 - March 4

The end of another month and the beginning of a new one, also one month closer to warmer weather. The spring is our rainy season here and the last few weeks we’ve been getting poured on, literally. Things are so soggy and gray all the time, it gets a little blah after a while. Luckily the sun finally reappeared lately so we have been taking advantage of the nicer weather. We both can’t wait for slightly warmer days (and before the onset of full on pollen season) so we can enjoy our deck again. Here’s a look back at our week!

Bought our Hiking Gear

We have officially booked our big Western road trip for later this year, a 30th birthday adventure! We’re both super stoked to make this big trip and have already started some of the preliminary planning. While my family has done its fair share of hiking in the past, this will be Kamil’s first big hiking adventure so it’s time to get him all geared up! After several visits to REI and lots of scrolling online, we finally found a great pack and hiking boots for him! He decided on the Oboz Sawtooth II Hiking Shoe and I got a pair of Merrell Mid-Rise Hiking Boots (Moab 2) . I already have a Camelback hydration pack but Kamil needed a pack too, but finding one that doesn’t look like a kid’s backpack is the trick. Luckily we came across the Osprey Mantra 34 Hydration Pack and it’s a perfect fit for him. Plus, the brand sounds pretty epic - the mighty guarantee - which is essentially a lifetime guarantee on the product!

We got the first big items off our check list for our trip, making it all that more real! Woohoo!

Bachelorette Party for Natalie

On Saturday I went to a cooking class at the Stocked Pot for a bachelorette party for a sorority sister and now colleague, Natalie! We helped make a delicious dinner of baked chicken with a lemon risotto, creamed spinach, a citrus vinaigrette salad. To finish it off, Natalie herself made Banana Foster for dessert! In just a few weeks she’ll be married - wishing her and Travis all the love and joy as they embark on this new adventure.

Family Time in Greensboro

Kamil and I stayed in Greensboro for the night since I had the bachelorette party the night before. My brother Tyler had come home too, so the bunch of us played a family favorite - Code Names - while my Dad smoked a pork butt in his smoker. We had a great Sunday BBQ (complete with margaritas prepared by Kamil the bartender) before heading back for a quiet evening in Durham.

Greensboro Visit for Doctors + Zoe + Winston with Mom

Kamil was on the road again this week for work and I had several days of doctors appointments back in Greensboro so I went and spent the end of the week back at my parents and with ZoZo. Mom and I even made a little excursion out to Winston for lunch and to visit a few of the little shops we like around there. We actually stopped into a new spot, Fiddle & Fig, which had very Magnolia-inspired home decor and cute accessories. They also have an AMAZING upstairs venue space complete with farmhouse tables and a small kitchen, so if you’re looking for a space to hold a special event, definitely give them a look!

LOVE,
