Marriage Week 7

December 25 - December 31

Flew home to Greensboro for Christmas Day

Well this was a first for both of us - spending Christmas Day at the airport! Being our first year married we wanted to see both of our families for the holidays but since they live 500+ miles apart, it’s not possible to see both in a day so we split the holiday. We spent the a few days and Christmas Eve with Kamil’s family up in Jersey and then on Christmas Day we woke up before dawn to catch the first flight out to Carolina to spend the next few days with my family.

Amazingly we didn’t have any flight issues and made it back to Greensboro in record time thanks to Kamil’s efficient driving skills. We got to my parents, showered and put on our Christmas jammies and started the family tradition of brunch and gifts for the next few hours. It was Zoe’s first Christmas too, so that was special.

The rest of our Christmas consisted of playing board games, eating all the yummy treats and goodies, drinking lots of cocktails, and lounging around spending family time together.

Driving through the Balls

If you’re from Greensboro than the “Christmas Balls” are probably something you know about, it’s kind of a holiday tradition around here. There’s this charming old neighborhood in town that goes all in on Christmas spirit. They launch these balls of Christmas lights way into the tippy tops of the trees and light up the dark December nights with their twinkling lights. Every year it gets bigger and brighter, bringing people from all over the town to drive or walk through the neighborhood. This week I made us some coffee and a cup of hot coco, put on some Christmas music, and we drove through the neighborhood taking in the beautiful homes and twinkling lights. Always a favorite!

Puzzles

It wouldn’t be the holidays without a puzzle or two! I got mom and I a set of cute new Christmas puzzles this year, the theme “Christmas around the World”. Naturally, we had to do the adorable pink Paris puzzle first.

Kamil Date Morning: Coffee + Home Depot

While the way to my heart is usually time spent walking through HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, Target or Anthropologie, for Kamil it’s definitely Home Depot. So what better way to have a date day that HE really loves than his two favorite things - coffee and power tools. After having to make a very early trip to the DMV office, I took Kamil to a cool little local coffee shop for his favorite - espresso! Then we popped over to Home Depot to wander the aisles and look at all the home gadgets tools and toys. He even got to pick out a new outdoor storage container we’ve been needing to get, so I think it was a happy day for him indeed!

2020 Powersheet Reflection + Beginning of 2021 Powersheets

If you know me, you know I love to plan. Not only do I love to plan events and my months, but I love to set goals and really foster intentionality in my life. Our time is so limited, and we’re often pulled into ten different directions at once. It can be hard to focus on our goals or heck, even figure out what type of goals we want to have because it can be overwhelming and daunting. When I discovered the Powersheets from the Cultivate What Matters ladies, I instantly loved the premise and concept behind it. Instead of making plans each day/week/month and checking things off our to-do list, why not spend some time thinking about the life you want to live, your legacy, your passion and how to take little baby steps to make your life a life worth living?! Seriously, go check out Lara Casey’s website here for a much better explanation and encouragement for getting started!

Anyways, as 2020 wraps up I love to look back through my Powersheets for reflection. For Christmas my mom got me the 2021 Powersheets so I was able to start digging into the prep sheets and start setting goals for 2021 and how I can cultivate what truly matters in my life, our families life, and my community.

LOVE,
