Marriage Week 10

January 15 - January 21

While I was in Tampa for the trade show, Kamil held down the fort at home and had a busy work week himself. On Saturday the 16th he flew down to Tampa to spend the weekend with me in Florida and after the close of the show take a little road trip further South to see my grandparents in Fort Myers. It felt like our “old days” when we were dating long distance. A lot of our dating trips took place around work events. I’d be in Nashville and he’d fly out before or after the event and we’d go tear it up in downtown Nashville. Other times I’d fly up to Maine and we’d spend the weekends sitting by the water, eating Holy Donut, and exploring charming towns like Kennebunkport. Well Tampa wasn’t as exciting as those days, but I still had butterflies in my stomach when I drove to the airport and pick him up.

Saturday night we went out to a waterfront bar, Whiskey Joe’s, which has your typical bar food, but my favorite part about this little dive is the tiki bar outside. Sandy beaches, big fire pits across the sand, and the lapping sound of the water … can’t beat it on a January evening. We met in Florida in April of 2019 over a margarita so it was only fitting to cheers our Florida weekend getaway by a couple of margaritas again!

Sunday was the trade show’s final day, so Kamil came along and was my assistant for the day (well in reality he can answer most of the questions I can since we work together, so really it was just another day of work for him too)… but it was oh-so-fun to have a little eye candy to look at during the long trade show hours.

The real reason Kamil joined me down in Florida though was to finally meet my grandparents! Unfortunately due to some health reasons they were unable to come to our small intimate wedding in November nor come up for Christmas, so they had yet to meet him. We took off after the close of the trade show on Sunday and drove South to Fort Myers to stay with them for a few nights.

I’m very thankful they got to finally meet (my now husband) Kamil after all this time. We enjoyed a lovely lunch on the water in Punta Gorda, introduced them to the board game “Code Names”, and looked through their photo albums from the time they went to Poland in the early 2000s. Kamil and I even squeezed in a little afternoon date at a delicious coffee shop in downtown Fort Myers with yummy gluten free treats and an amazing courtyard.

January in Florida… not all that bad!

Love,
