Gluten Free Guide to Phoenix

This was my first time actually stopping and exploring a bit in the Phoenix area. I’ve flown through, but haven’t had a chance to check out the local food scene, so was glad to have some time to find some gluten free spots in the area! I compiled a short list of some places to check out if you’re in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

True Food Kitchen - I finally got to experience the incredible food of True Food Kitchen. There are several located throughout the US and this was definitely my #1 stop in Phoenix. I’m going to be honest and say we ate here twice in three days, it was that good! Ha. Overall the restaurant is just healthy, fresh, local, and organic but has tons of GF options such as pita, pizza crust, and a bun. We ate the most incredible hummus with GF pita, had butternut squash soup, salads, pita wraps, a pizza… I mean I’m telling you we ate so much food here over our few days here and it was ALL delicious.

Address: 2502 E Camelback Rd Suite 135, Phoenix, AZ 85016
*** It’s located on the outside of a mall. Park in the lot and bring the coin in to get it validated for free parking

Teaspressa - a (clearly Instagrammable) tea and coffee house that also serves a small selection of toast (including gluten free bread) and treats like macaroons.

Address: 4628 E. Indian School Road Phoenix, AZ 85018
***If you do go to this spot, it’s difficult to find. It’s right off the main road in a little house-looking space with only 2-3 parking spots in the front but there is a small dirt lot to the left side of the shop too.***

Diego Pops - This was recommended by several blogs so I stopped for margaritas and tacos. It was (again) very cute and “Instagrammable” but I wouldn’t necessarily have considered it the best tacos or margaritas I’ve ever had in life. However they do have gluten free options such as - corn chips, corn tortillas, and customized bowls. Oh and the margaritas were kind of funky too with cool flavors like watermelon and prickly pear. Everything is clearly marked “GF” and the staff is pretty knowledgeable about allergies so that was nice!

Address: 4338 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251
*** Parking is limited so you may have to find street parking in the old town and walk over

Farm & Craft - We didn’t get a chance to eat here because it always had a pretty long wait, but it looked so cute and the menu had loads of “GF” options. Since it had a wait and was busy even during a mid-week lunch, I’m assuming it’s pretty good.

Address: 4302 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251
*** Parking is limited so you may have to find street parking in the old town and walk over

Sprinkles - Obviously this isn’t a local find but it’s always a fun treat when I find a Sprinkles cupcake shop in town. They always have a few gluten free flavors - usually a red velvet and a lemon blueberry - so I had to partake!

Address: 4501 N Scottsdale Rd Suite 101, Scottsdale, AZ 85251
*** Park on the side of the building

The Montauk - We came here for brunch so I’m not sure what normal lunch and dinner looks like but brunch was decent. They had your typical breakfast items - eggs, meat, and fruit. I had a good salad and we split some house-made potato chips that can’t be certified GF because of the fryer but I did okay with them.

Address: 4360 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251
*** Parking is limited so you may have to find street parking in the old town and walk over

Blue Wasabi- We were out in this area of town so it’s not super close to Scottsdale or any other places I outlined here but they had an entire gluten free menu and had special plates to show them gluten free so I thought I’d add it to the list. Sushi was good, and they had GF soy sauce too. Oh and Sunday night is 1/2 priced alcohol - so we had wine and it was a great price!

Address: 2080 E Williams Field Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85295
*** Plenty of parking - no issues here

Jewel Kitchen and Bakery- I did not get a chance to get here unfortunately but every gluten free search I found suggested this 100% GF bakery and restaurant so it’s probably worth a try if you’re in the area.

Address: 4041 E Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018
