Gluten Free Guide to Greensboro, North Carolina

Gluten Free Greensboro

Greensboro, conveniently located half way in between Raleigh and Charlotte, is becoming a popular place for people to settle with a few big business and industries in the area. Also home to the Folk Festival and neighboring High Point Furniture Market, you may find yourself in this Carolina city looking for some same, delicious and satisfying gluten free options. I’ve been gluten free for nearly eight years (yes, before it was “cool” to be #gf) so I’ve rounded up my top picks for gluten free eats in the Triad! Happy eating friends :)

Restaurants

  • Crafted Taco - located in downtown Greensboro, this funky little restaurant has tacos and burgers, all which are modified gluten free.

  • Crafted Art of Street Food - the “cousin” of Crafted but expand your mind from burgers and tacos to delectable street food inspired bites. Cuban sandwiches, Korean ribs, pad thai, Bao and more awaits you.

  • Sticks & Stones - a fun local pizza joint with gluten free crust and fresh local toppings and drink selections

  • Print Works Bistro - one of my favorite restaurants in town! The ambiance is incredible and the food is delicious. They have gluten free breadsticks to start and can modify (almost) all the menu options. Staff is always very cautious and knowledgeable about #gf allergies. Oh and they also have gluten free bread for sandwiches and breakfast french toast!

  • Big Burger Spot - two locations in Greensboro that offer chargrilled burgers and a very soft fluffy gluten free bun

  • Mozelle’s Southern Bistro - located in Winston Salem and very adaptable to gluten allergies. However the best treat — gluten free fried chicken! Yup, you read that right. When’s the last time you had gluten free fried chicken?! It’s delicious!

  • Hops Burger Bar - voted the best burger in North Carolina and there’s a reason why… they’re delicious! My favorite is the Spicy Goat on a gluten free bun. It’s to die for! The staff is pretty knowledgable about gluten allergy and can help make recommendations too on sides

  • Scrambled - One of the only breakfast spots in town that has gluten free bread! Try the banana flambéed french toast with gluten free bread - super rich and yummy!

  • O. Henry Hotel Afternoon Tea - An afternoon tea you can actually enjoy. On the weekends at the iconic O.Henry Hotel they do afternoon tea. Call ahead to make a reservation and they have an entire gluten free tea available complete with scones, sandwiches, and sweet and savory bites.

Bakeries & Coffee Shops

  • Maxi B's Bakery - they carry a selection of gluten free cupcakes every day. Bases include chocolate, vanilla, and pumpkin with a plethora of different frosting flavors to make it a little different. Adorable seating and ambiance.

  • Delicious Bakery - Daily choices of gluten free cupcakes that are chocolate or vanilla base.

  • DeBeen Espresso - located in High Point and is a combo yoga studio and coffee shop. They have a plethora of pre-made gluten free (and vegan) treats to go!

  • Camino Bakery - located in Winston Salem and has a wonderful bakery selection of gluten free (and some vegan) baked treats to have there or take away. Great spot to do some remote work!

Chain Restaurants

Thought I’d share some of my other go-to places for gluten free food that are chains and just another option

  • Mellow Mushroom - gluten free pizza crust and gluten free pizza toppings.

  • Uncle Maddio’s - gluten free crust and gluten free toppings.

  • CHOPT - a yummy salad place that makes salads fun and exciting again.

  • Core Life Eatery - lots of healthy options like bowls, salads and protein plates with very clearly labeled gluten free items.

  • Nothing Bundt Cakes - looking for a treat!? Check out their gluten free chocolate chip bundt - it’s moist and delicious!!

  • Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar - a gluten free bun option allows for all sorts of sandwich and burger combos.

  • PF Chang’s - a fairly common chain but they do have a gluten free / gluten sensitive menu - I always get the #gf chicken lettuce wraps and a side of brown rice

    Happy eating friends!
