Gluten Free Guide to Nashville

Recently I took a quick 3-day trip to Nashville for work and, per usual, had to find some gluten free spots in this fun little city. Nashville has to be one of the fastest growing cities - at least in the South - because there are so many cranes in downtown it feels like New York! Below is a collection of a few options in the Nashville area if you’re looking for some gluten free spots on your Music City visit.

Hopdoddy - Located in the Belmont area which is dotted with some cafes, restaurants, and shops. Hopdoddy is a counter-service burger joint that offers local, grass-fed beef burgers with fun and local toppings such as bacon tomato jam and cheeses. Not only were the burgers delicious, but they also have a gluten free bun that is delicious! We also split an order of truffle fries which were absolutely yummy and honestly so big that could’ve been just one meal.

*** park on the street for 2-hour free parking

Jeni’s Ice Cream - If you go to Hopdoddy, then you’re next door to one of the Jeni’s Ice Cream locations in town! There are a few locations in Nashville (and multiple locations throughout the country. They have tons of ice cream options that are gluten free, dairy free, nut free etc.  and everything is clearly labeled. What I love the most is that they have “fun” options for us gluten free people such as peanut butter & jelly, gingerbread and cognac, frosé, along with traditional flavors like chocolate, caramel etc. If you have a severe allergy they will even go open a fresh box of ice cream in the back and use a special scoop - such great attention to detail for allergies.

City Winery - Stopped here randomly with no specific research or plans but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Obviously it’s a wine bar (but they also have beer and a selection of whiskeys) so that’s already great but their menu had “GF” items labeled on their menu. We split a very fall-inspired dish of sweet potato risotto, prosciutto wrapped grilled chicken and crispy kale. Then for dessert we had the only gluten free dessert - a caramel chocolate tarte which was so good I could’ve gone for two. They have two live music venues here too which looked super fun but we were so tired so we didn’t stay for any music but would for sure go back.

Address: 609 Lafayette St, Nashville, TN 37203
*** The parking lot is super difficult to find so just watch your GPS carefully. It’s a pay lot, so make sure you find the pay station. Also they have valet parking I think it was like $8 and worth it in my opinion.

Five Daughters Bakery - With a few locations in Nashville, you should definitely stop here for a paleo/gluten free donut (or two!). They have a selection of super fun and tantalizing flavors like s’mores, lemon blueberry, orange pistachio and other daily flavors.

Address: 1110 Caruthers Ave, Nashville, TN 37204
230 Franklin Rd, Franklin, TN 37064
1900 Eastland Ave Suite 101, Nashville, TN 37206
*** Parking can be difficult so find street parking (read signs carefully)

Vegan Vee - A gluten free, vegan bakery! Yes please. They had a selection of baked goods and everything looked yummy. We tried cupcakes, muffins and cookies. I’d definitely recommend the muffins and cookies for sure! The cupcakes were good but a little too sweet for our liking personally. Definitely stop by and even catch a cute photo at the “like” mural on the side of the shop.

Address:  306 46th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37209
*** parking is in a small lot to the left of the shop

True Food Kitchen - This is a small chain but it is SO GOOD! Ha. Overall the restaurant is just healthy, fresh, local, and organic but has tons of GF options such as pita, pizza crust, and a bun. We ate the most incredible hummus with GF pita, had butternut squash soup, salads, pita wraps, a pizza… I mean I’m telling you we ate so much food here over our few days here and it was ALL delicious.

Address: Vertis Green Hills |, 3996 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215
*** park in the parking deck on the backside and walk to the restaurant as there’s no parking directly near

Also another gluten free find is the Renaissance Hotel downtown; their little restaurant (called Lil’ Fib) has gluten free bread on their menu so the opens you up to toast in the morning or some sandwiches and snacks in the afternoon and evening.
